Dear TSR Friends:

Every five years the Estonians hold their amazing and profound song festival, Laulupidu, and the next one is this July 4-6, 2014!

We’d like to share three ways to experience the music that saved a nation…

1.
We did our best to convey the impressive nature of that event, and give the background to truly appreciate it. But even we have to admit nothing compares to experiencing the real thing. 30,000 singers on stage, in precision, harmony and history. You have to be there to understand it. If you can go – do it!

Once again, we recommend using our friends at Astellaria Travel Agency. We have recommended them in the past and have received excellent feedback on their tours. They offer a group package for $1090€ (about US$1,480) that includes tickets, transportation, and hotel from July 3-10. The tour includes side trips to other interesting Estonian locations. And there will be an optional private screening of our new film on Laulupidu, To Breathe as One. We will be there to answer any questions and visit with the audience. You have to book your own flights into Tallinn. To learn more about this opportunity, go to http://www.astellaria.ee/index....

2.
If you can’t be there in person, then how about the next best thing – hold a screening at your local theater of To Breathe as One, which brings to the screen the elegance of the music and history of the song festival. This may sound complicated, but thanks to our partner Tugg.com, it’s not. All you have to do is choose a theater and a date and they make the arrangements. Then help them spread the word locally! Go here to learn more: http://www.tobreatheasone.com/.... Please help us share this new story!

3.
The Singing Revolution, which shares Estonia’s story of multiple occupations and the remarkable non-violent revolution they staged to regain freedom, is playing this weekend at the Woodstock, VT Film Festival. The film includes segments on how the song festival was used as an instrument of unification and defiance during the years of occupation. If you’re in the area, please come by! We’ll be there for Q&A after the film plays.
