Finnair has announced that it will suspend flights between Helsinki and Tartu from April 29 to May 31 due to interference with the GPS signal. The airline will contact all passengers who have purchased flight tickets for that period via SMS or e-mail.

Last week two Finnair flights had to return to Helsinki due to GPS disturbances over Estonia. Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) and Finnair are looking for alternative solutions to the use of GPS during May, so that flights can continue safely again.

GPS signal jamming has recently intensified. In March, Estonian Air Navigation Services (EANS) implemented an alternative navigation solution DME-DME, the starting point of which was to support air traffic at three kilometers and above. Considering the new situation, the EANS has started to look for additional ways to support airlines at lower altitudes.
