The Copenhagen Accord seeks to halt deforestation, which accounts for 17 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Washington — With the next international climate change meeting just days away, a member of the U.S. negotiating team repeated that President Obama stands by pledges made at last year’s meeting in Copenhagen. The United States also expects progress to be made on several key issues at the Cancún, Mexico, climate change meeting that will eventually result in a legally binding, global accord, he said.

The Cancún meeting runs from November 29 to December 10.
