Estonian Students Win Silver and Three Bronzes at the Linguistics Olympiad

Estonians won one silver and three bronze medals at the 10th International Linguistics Olympiad that took place at Ljubljana University from 29 July to 4 August.

Estonia was represented at the Olympiad by Eva-Lotta Kasper, who this year completed the Hugo Treffner High School, Ants-Oskar Maesalu, an 11th-grade student of the same school, Erik Tamre, who recently completed the Tallinn Science School, and Mette-Triin Purde, an 11th-grader at the Tallinn French Lyceum, Tartu University told BNS.

A silver medal went to Eva-Lotta Kasper, who had this year received a silver medal also from the Biology Olympiad and a bronze medal from the Chemistry Olympiad; the other members of the team won bronze medals. Ants-Osakar Maesalu was specially mentioned at the best solver of a problem.

There were a total 131 schoolchildren from 25 countries taking part in the Linguistic Olympiad in Ljubljana. The number of gold medals issued was 8, of silver medals 13 and of bronze medals 16. Eva-Lotta Kasper finished iith overall.
