Auto giant Daimler to settle bribery charges in US court

The maker of Mercedes-Benz luxury cars is set to pay $185 million dollars to settle bribery charges in the US. The auto giant is accused of using gifts and cash bribes to secure lucrative contracts around the world.

German automaker Daimler will appear in court on Thursday in Washington to settle a long-standing bribery case. The auto giant is accused of giving cash kick-backs and extravagant gifts to foreign officials in at least 22 countries in order to secure lucrative contracts.
