Some members of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) are thinking about getting rid of President Putin, as the war in Ukraine continues, The Times is reporting.

The whistleblower has told Vladimir Osechkin, founder of the human rights group Gulagu.net, that chaos and discontent have engulfed the security services after the botched invasion of Ukraine.

Osechkin has published almost a dozen of the whistleblower's letters. He told The Times that the risk taken by intelligence agents in speaking out was a sign of their growing anger towards Putin, who has reportedly blamed them for the failure of Russia’s attempt to topple the government in Kyiv.

According to Osechkin, FSB officers are greatly angered by the sanctions imposed on Russia, which prevent senior security officials, who are often considered Russia's "new nobility", from enjoying their holidays in Italy or visiting Disneyland in Paris with their children. The employees of the FSB have a much higher salary than ordinary Russians. The job often comes with FSB provided apartment as well.

"Putin has created stability in Russia for 20 years. People in the system - FSB staff, police, prosecutors - were able to enjoy a good life. But now everything is lost. They understand that war is a disaster. They do not want to return to the Soviet Union," Osechkin said from Paris, where he has lived since 2015.

According to Osechkin, these people want to change the system if this becomes necessary.

"Every week and month that this war lasts, the possibility of insurgency by security personnel increases," Osechkin said.

Osechkin revealed that the whistleblower was leading a small analysis group at the FSB and is using the name "wearenotallsadists" as his email address.
