Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves on 27 July paid tribute to musicians associated with the Viljandi Folk Music Festival and their role in local life in the Mulgimaa region of south-central Estonia by hosting them at his home farm, Ärma.

"I am glad that there are people who have chosen Mulgimaa as the site of their efforts to sustain Estonian ideals – both the natives who continue to make their home here and those who have settled here. It can be sensed that more and more people are moving here to make music outside the metropolis," said the Estonian head of state.

Several dozen musicians visited Ärma farm, including the head of the Viljandi Folk Music Festival Ando Kiviberg.
