Ambassador Polt attended the opening of the 13th Annual GLOBE Games and Expedition earlier today, which took place in Jäneda. About 170 participants - students, teachers, scientists and guests from France, Germany, Sweden, and throughout Estonia - will attend the four-day event.

The GLOBE, or Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment, Program works with NASA to maintain foster a worldwide community of students, teachers, scientists and citizens working together to better understand, sustain, and improve our Earth's environment, as well as to improve science education.

Estonia joined the GLOBE program in 1996 and has distinguished itself among the 111 countries that comprise the program worldwide. Remarkably, although Estonian GLOBE students make up only 0.6 % of GLOBE's world total, they contribute 3.1% of the overall data. As Ambassador Polt commented today, expressing appreciation to teachers and students, "your dedication has made Estonia one of the most active GLOBE countries in the world."
