The Estonian University of Life Sciences (EMÜ) “is the only university in Estonia whose priorities in academic and research activities provide the sustainable development of natural resources necessary for the existence of Man as well as the preservation of heritage and habitat. According to QS World University Rankings by Subject (2022), the Estonian University of Life Sciences is one of the top 100 universities in the world in the field of agriculture and forestry, ranked 65. The university also belongs to the top 1% most cited research facilities in the world.”
Former Rector Pres. Karis is a biologist and molecular geneticist. Before he arrives in Toronto he will have participated at the COP27 conference in a discussion of Africa's response to climate change and a roundtable event on the topic of water scarcity and security concerns. Estonia is currently the UN Water Convention's leading country. Pres. Karis will have attended a second roundtable event on raising environmental awareness, international cooperation and education. In May 2022 in “Diplomacy” he wrote: "The time has come when we should not be afraid to have discussions out of the box, so to speak. Russia is blocking Ukrainian ports, including grain ships."
If Estonian Life / Eesti Elu is “the voice of the Estonian-Canadian community”, could they not reach out to more knowledgeable people outside Toronto to speak with the President? The other fellow, Juku Gold, completed an introductory U of T course in Estonian in 2017. His expertise is narrow and what can he have but a token role in the event held in Estonian?

9Pre-eminent writers from Estonia have reflected on Kotkajärve Metsaülikool Forest University, nature and the environment, but these articles, too, are in „Kid’s Corner” in Estonian Life / Eesti Elu. Almost all the articles about Forest University are in „Kid’s Corner“. There seems to be a knowledge gap. Current Editor and long-time English supplement editor is Laas Leivat.

GAP really needs to pull his head out of his a—. And incidentally you ignorant wretch, Juku Gold is fluent in Estonian. If you were involved in the Toronto esto community even on a token basis you would no this but alas, you are yet another who chooses to criticize from afar on topics you know nothing about. You must be part of one of the “Friends” organizations.
