I totally agree that the Estonian house is not in good shape. Perhaps no one wants to keep it clean due to covid or the management does not want to keep the asset in good repair. I mean there is a bank that still operates there...

The board has stopped caring about the Estonia House... and that is a sad.

It seems that a lot of assumptions have been made. No one is obliged to use the new centre. The question is valid. Where will the children go? I don’t think anyone knows for certain right now. The centre is not the ark, “build it and they will come” does not apply. Certainly there will be those who want to use the centre, but it does not mean everyone will use the centre.

How much pariking space do those two churches have?

you do not know Ingrid Tanner personally. It is your loss. Unlike many in our community, if she sees an injustice she speaks up about it. It´s hard to find someone who is as practically-minded and has such logical thinking. And someone who speaks up when her own personal interests are not involved. A real community person. It is also why she is as good as she is in her work. She would have been great on our Estonian House board. Too bad that the bank did not support this with their large number of shares. It would also have given the diversity we so need on our community boards and in our community.
I would much rather have more Ingrid Tanners in our community. We would not be in our present mess were there more of her instead of people who go along with an idea instead of doing their own thorough research.

#13! and it is featured in the Vision, at the edge of the Green Gateway and part of the Heritage scene. So what if some ethnic communities missed the boat, Estonian House could be part of the heritage legacy, that whole era that helped grow and define the city and this country, even as it maintained in exile a living cultural heritage and community and now is home to the engagement with diasporic history and diversity, modernized upgrades, and regrounding.

It is great to see that the city sees Broadview's special qualities, as do its residents. I see us staying on Broadview and being revitalized actually, because of the positive energy directed that way.

Sadly, those who have dedicated countless hours solely for the pursuit of a new centre are out of touch with the larger Estonian community and never engaged the larger community with their plans.
If a new centre is ever built it is as an extension of Tartu College in a neighbourhood that has long lost its value. Working countless hours to create a place to meet personal interests and needs is natural. It is much more when people work hard to actually build a future for our young families, our children, and future generations. Not only does this require hard work it also requires skills and knowledge specific to the cultural community. This is the weak spot for those working and promoting the new centre. Wasted hours if it really was for the benefit of the Estonian cultural community and not their own interests and needs. Getting rid of the Estonian House cuts off most members of the Estonian community and only pleases Moscow.
There is nothing wrong with this small group wanting more space at Madison. However it is wrong to do it at the expense of the much larger Estonian community that has never liked the Tartu College location because of traffic congestion and the lack of parking.
This is the reality. Sorry to disappoint you with a reality check.

This plan is very ambitious!
Also, very unrealistic -- since there will never be enough doners to finance it, or Estonians to use it after it's built.
I wonder. ... Is this a distraction to impede the development of the more realistic plan to build an Estonian centre on Madison Ave?
The question must be asked, since the promoter of it is the well-known destructive personality among us.
