WDR BIG BAND - BEETHOVEN'S 5TH SYMPHONY, 1ST MOVEMENT, OP.67
2020 is coming to an end. It's been a strange year with no small degree of hardship for many people! We're not completely done yet, but there seems to be som elight at the end of the tunnel, at least. Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, finished in 1808, is also aften called his "Schicksalssinfonie" (Symphony of destiny, or fate). Maybe not a bad way to wrap up the penultimate day of this unusual year! This alternate version is by the pen of Christian Elsässer (also conducting), and features Malte Dürrschnabel on alto sax. This was a part of or recent live stream, paying our tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven, born 250 years ago this year. #beethoven250
