An alternative news reporter on YouTube tries to interview a few of the moms at the viewing gallery of an Orangeville swimming pool where a 50 year old man who identifies as a 14 yr old girl gets to shower with their daughters. Each of these moms and two personnel (asking him and the cameraman to leave or they’ll call the cops) refuse to comment or give their names, saying he’s not allowed to film there. None will voice a personal opinion about the situaion. Their girls. Their feelings. The self-identifier. Why? Stuck in their dread of backlash, their fear of consequences, they've "gone underground" with their personal opinions. Right? Connect the dots... What's going on in Canada?

0Hei "kaasaja ühiskonna traagikast"/ Inquirer. Good Guardian article linked there. But could you elaborate on how the dubious "positivity" message relates to this story? Is it in the "nothing to see here, we've got this covered" smiley two-sided realm of easy condemnation - easy virtue? Which hinders deeper societal self-analysis, and allows for rote demonisation of the "obviously guilty"? Just slap 'em with the weaponised labels du jour and that's the conveniently comforting end of story? Not that there is no guilt amongst the accused parties, but a lack of curiosity about wider cultural underpinnings is a little too easy, a caricature? Umbes selliselt. Cheers.

1No big surprise here. Having worked at a large community estonian business I experienced massive amounts of racism, especially from employees born in Estonia in the later years 1965 plus.
