Keel ei pruugi olla bürokraatlik. There’s a problem with check-off-the-box language, no more salient than in a panel discussion I attended on Indigenous Peoples’ Day. However, the language of the EWR article is all “pre-given”, the connections are as if self evident, what is named, will “be covered”, not even “get” covered, the latter referencing some involvement of a subject, e.g the Theme, in the action. Consider: “Looduse teemal kuuleme Eesti Maaülikooli teadurilt Kristiina Markilt, kes räägib meile samblast ja samblikest ning selgitab lahti kui väga need kaks liiki õieti erinevad, olgugi, et nimed on nõnda sarnased.” You can find this in a quick video on Google.
“Eks saame neid lähemalt uurida Kotkajärvel, kus erinevaid samblaid ja samblikke on külluses”. OK, why not. Compare:
“Among the speakers delivering specialist lectures on campus is Kristiina Mark from the Estonian University of Life Sciences. Mark will explain how the lichen and moss that are extremely abundant at Kotkajärv indicate a healthy ecosystem.”
That’s worth the drive to Muskoka, for the “TED" talk, and for a trip into the field!! That’s grounding.
