The Lithuanians jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but the Estos fought back to lead 4-2,before the Lithuanians managed to tie the game at 4-4 after two periods.
The third period brought all kinds of heart-stopping excitement with the Estos holding onto a hard fought 8-7 victory, and the right to defend the Baltic Cup against the L atvians. For the Estos, the energy, leadership and play of Mihkel Põldma,Mihkel Auksi and Alex Kaju stood out!
Although the game was very exciting it was somewhat sloppy at times, probably due to the fact it was played at the MasterCard Center, the Toronto Maple Laffs practice facility,and those Laff ghosts had not yet been fully exorcised.
The Baltic Cup Championship game will be next Friday, April 16 at 6:30 pm, once against the MasterCard Center on Kipling Avenue, just north of Lakeshore Road.
If you plan to attend and have a weak heart, it is recommended that you bring your personal defibrillator as the rink only has one such unit available.
