Today, the Toronto-based Estonian Documentary Film Festival (EstDocs – October 15 - 20) announces this year’s lineup of films from Estonia, about Estonia, or featuring Estonian filmmakers and artists. All films are in English or in Estonian with English subtitles.
With themes ranging from the re-invigoration of democracy in the Baltic States, to music and ballet, to how a group of refugees banded together after World War II and created their own university, this year’s festival offers a stimulating mix of history and art.
Dinner and a Movie and . . . Maggots?
The first night of the festival features “dinner and a movie” at Tartu College (corner of Madison and Bloor Street West). In a playful approach to the evening, the festival presents a film called “Journey to the Maggot Feeder” about the making of an animated film of an Intuit folk tale. For $25, festival-goers can enjoy both the dinner and the movie for $25. For the screening only, tickets are $10 (rush tickets). Limited space, so get your “dinner and a movie” tickets soon!
...and remember new (or experienced) filmmakers....
Short Film Screenings to take place Oct 3, 2015, at the Stephen Bulger Gallery. Doors open at 7:30pm, films start at 8pm. Go to www.estdocs.com for more information.
