Kidnapped kids! Seriously!?

About 8 children per year are abducted in all of Canada. (RCMP stats) Can we stop the fear mongering.

Living in Yesteryear is an apt handle for the Broadview-or-nothing folks (Broadviewphiles?.....C'mon, can't the "Madisonites" also use cute little nicknames?)

If we're speculating about the change that will come with future development in the area of Tartu College- I foresee more Green P parking in these developments, maybe even traffic lights at the intersection of Bloor and Madison, closer access points to Spadina Station, general gentrification and overall improvement in safety of the neighbourhood. Madison north of Bloor will continue to offer little reason to attract foot-traffic from Bloor Street. And parents will prevent the inevitable child-abduction epidemic by simply getting out of their cars for a minute, and walking their children to the door.

Unfortunately there will be some people who will be too scared of pedestrians, traffic, and shadows to exit their safety bubbles and continue to function in a city.

Indeed interesting to know what you're trying to point out. Two links to some screenshots with some numbers on them. Are they even crime maps? Why no links to the original websites? Who compiled them? What year do they reflect? What crimes are being talked about? They can't be too serious, since there is no indication of the shooting that occurred in the Madison parking lot.
Can't blame people for being confused and distrustful!

The data is all here: http://data.torontopolice.on.c...

Mostly assults in both areas.

And wasn't there a shooting IN Eesti Maja a number of years back?

Am what I'm trying to point out is that Toronto is a big city. There's going to be crime and violence in it. Both areas have crime.

BUT - Toronto is also, by almost every measure, one of the safest large cities in the world.

Yes, you might find more people getting into fights or peeing on the street downtown but no one's kids are going to be kidnapped from Madison Ave. so let's tone down the rhetoric.

Why so blasé18 Feb 2018 08:59
There are so many other horrible things that could happen to children aside from abduction. Parents know this - how many kids in Toronto do you see walking to school by themselves these days?

Pedophilia is a real problem around the world, and predators are good at finding their prey. This problem is coming more to the light. Thousands of pedophiles have been arrested under the new US administration. For example check out: http://www.neonnettle.com/feat...

To the leaders of Madison : get your funders to donate ALL the money and let the rest of us reinvigorate 958 Broadview . We can do it !
