Laas is absolutely right.
More was achieved in one evening than has even been attempted over the past 18 years!
Both Rae and Wilfert agreed that Canada could play a pivotal leading roll in contributing to the building of awareness of the deleterious effects of Communism around the world. They also agreed that Article 5 of the NATO treaty should be amended to include economic, energy and cyber warfare: A point that Estonia has been advocating since last April’s riots.
The candid and frank discussion was both refreshing and inspiring, allowing for everyone in the community to express their issues. With the addition of the Latvian and Lithuanian ambassadors, the Estonian Charge d’Affairs and the leaders of the Baltic communities (with the notable exception of one); the event created a significant foundation for future engagement and discussion about the future of Canada’s relationship with The Baltics.
The future looks very bright!

It is good to hear such positive response to the evening. If the NATO treaty can possibly be broadened to include factors which are cutting edge policy in the global village, it would allow for far less stress in the Russian Near Abroad (including Estonia), and much more confidence that Europe is a total package offer that is inclusive and watertight against all Russian aggression. I'm all for it!!
