The Avro Arrow is re-created

After being unceremoniously scrapped in 1959, the Avro Arrow full scale replica was unveiled on October 5, 2006 at Downsview Park (formerly Downsview Air Force Base) at the Toronto Aerospace Museum. The original took 23 months to design and build but the replica took 8 years. Though the maiden flight was 48 years ago the performance is still as passable today as it was ahead of its time then. Unfortunately so was its cost.

Conspiracy theories abound: what really happened, who did it, and was one of the prototypes spirited away to parts unknown?

The replica was unveiled in a neighbouring hangar from behind a huge curtain after speeches by notables. It, however, was a marvellous sight and is available for viewing at the museum on 65 Carl Hall Road, Toronto, Ontario, M3K 2E1 tel. 416-638-6078 and web site www.TorontoAerospaceMuseum.com...
