On March 25th, the Lembitu Noolepoisid visited the marine unit of the Toronto Fire Department. They "inspected" the fireboat William Lyon MacKenzie and Fire Station #334 located at 339 Queens Quay West (between Spadina Ave. and Rees St.) The Wolf Cubs were introduced to the functions and responsibilities of the 42 year-old fireboat. Given present repairs recommended the fireboat could be in service for possibly another 30 years.

The William Lyon MacKenzie services the entire GTA waterfront, from Etobicoke to Scarborough. The closest other fireboat to the east is in Kingston and the closest to the west is Buffalo.

Aboard the fireboat: in the front row from left are Mark Pettinen, Tomas Vilde, Joosep Männama, Eedu Otsa, Markus Jeeger, Andres Järve and Erik Sadul. In the second row, nskm. Peeter Jeeger, hj. Marianne Pettinen, and the Fire Captain on the William Lyon MacKenzie, Juris Ratnieks (who is a Latvian Canadian). Photo: Karl Otsa
