Lembitu roofers busy at KJ

Lembitu's volunteers were busy last weekend, braving snow, which was not in the forecast, to finish the roof of their Kotkajärve village’s new garage with metal roofing. The material is durable, but not always easy to install under inclement weather conditions, never mind figuring out how to deal with the pitch.

An ingenious “contraption”, (in Estonian katusekaadervärk) was designed and built by the project’s commander-in-chief Peeter Jeeger, enabling his minions, the younger and nimbler men, to scamper to and fro on the roof fastening the sheets, all safely attached to their harnesses and ropes, following building code, as demonstrated here by Kaido Nipernado, tying the rig fast.

The same weekend saw scouting brethren Kalev have their annual traditional KJ Weekend With The Guys. That is perhaps the only event at KJ about which it can be said “what happens at Kotkajärve stays at Kotkajärve…”
