Estonian popular music legend Ivo Linna celebrates his 60th birthday today. Born June 12, 1949 in Kuressaare, Iff has left his mark on our culture fronting bands such as Apelsin and Rock Hotel and as a solo performer. His leading role during the Singing Revolution was considerable, both at home and abroad.

Locally many Torontonians remember well his passionate performances twenty years ago at the Independence Day assembly in historic Convocation Hall as well as the unforgettable Isamaalised laulud ja luuletused, patriotic songs and poems presented to a packed-to-the-rafters Esto House. A classy countryman who has remained true to his roots, Linna’s milestone is cheered on both sides of the Atlantic.
