Martinique authorities made a significant drug bust near Saint Lucia resulting in the arrest of two drug traffickers.

According to reports out of neighboring Martinique, on the evening of April 15-16, the Armed Forces in the Antilles (FAA) seized 210 kilos of cocaine and apprehended two suspected drug traffickers, a 43-year-old Estonian and a 64-year-old Latvian on a sailboat east of Saint Lucia.

The two men appeared before a magistrate on April 23, where they were indicted on charges of drug trafficking in an organized gang, and participation in a criminal association, and were placed in pre-trial detention.

The two men are facing a thirty-year sentence for the offences.

Since the start of 2021, the authorities have seized more than 5 tonnes of narcotics following collaborations between various agencies.
