Estonia’s Aliens Act will be amended soon, according to Mait Palts, head of the legal department of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Palts says that the act has been amended in recent years, especially in connection with enabling aliens to work in Estonia for shorter periods. The objective of these amendments have been to simplify the quota system, reduce bureaucracy and legislate that residence permit for employment will be issued only to foreign workers who are either highly qualified or whose skills are not available in Estonia.
