The children of Ehatare's residents should monitor this process closely, to ensure that the Board acts in the residents' best interests.
The Board is currently headed by Allan Meiusi, an "activist" during "the Rosie affair", when Ehatare was subjected to a vivious campaign of slander and sabotage. Hopefully, Meiusi has a positive agenda, today, and he should to make it public.

During Covid, several times the home was under lockdown so no one could move in. Thanks to Ehatare, not one soul there died of Covid, but many did simply of old age. However, potential new residents found it difficult to reduce their assets to move into Ehatare during the past 2 years due to Covid so rooms remained empty. Currently a couple of new people are moving in every month.
20 rooms vacant × $2500 per room. Thats $ 50,000 per month of lost revenue.

Years ago both the Retirement Home and Long Term Care Home were nearly 100 % Estonian.
Times have changed , with Ontario's health care system overloaded and in crisis. The newly introduced Bill 7 is going to be very negative for Ehatare LTC. Just very worried the government is getting more and more having a say how Ehatare is run.

Goverment regulation of LTC is complete and Ehatare's staff is only there to administer its ever more detailed policies.
The result? It's no longer possible to maintain the Estonian character of the nursing home, so it may be time to give up that side of Ehatare's service to our community.
