Words to consider09 Sep 2022 05:52
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

The friends proposal reflects this passage indeed.

The Great Reset is officially dead and the Great Awakening has won. People will understand what is really going on here. The board sees only money as the value in the church, the pastor has no faith in the power of prayer, the 'friends' see the church as a money making opportunity and don't accept that pretty much nobody speaks good enough Estonian to really get the meaning of Christian instruction in Estonian, or even read the Bible in Estonian. The 'friends' are not suggesting an English congregation which would right away boost the potential numbers who would come to services. The 'friends' simply appear like controlled opposition, with both sides only seeing dollars.

The un-Christian pastor ought to step down and an English speaking congregation should be introduced.

Well, no. The Friends never suggested an Estonian-only pastor, they have asked for part-time or guest pastors speaking English or Estonian. Encouraging, faith-filled ministers - young or old, who can relate to people. It was so nice to get those young ministers from Estonia, many could also speak English well. Or let young ministers in training here (English) have a chance. Rotating pastors would be a great start!

Hey, Friends of St. Peter’s,
Pray tell us why your team has decreased from the original 7 to the present 4?
Tiiu Roiser10 Sep 2022 17:39
The Friends of St. Peter's is a much larger group than the names listed on the website. These are the names of the individuals in administrative roles. I and my husband have been called to work on another project. As a result, we have been removed our names as admin. This is no way diminishes our support for the Friends' cause.

Really, again? This series is about saving money, finding ways of making some money here, some there, to save the sanctuary and welcome new members to the congregation, and they are called thieves? When this is a direct response to provide numbers? Shame on you!

And those who want to sell the church, have it torn down, are talking millions, 15 to 25 million! Where will this money go? To buy a new church? To go to Estonia? For the minister's new home, since he won't be able to live in the parsonage? The only response given is: to the congregation. And who might that be? The reduced number of members that the board is working on?

Step up and give us your plan for the future of the congregation, other than selling it, board members and "friends" of the board!

BTW the sad part is, all this bickering will lead to the disintegration of the congregation - and no amount of money will save it. Why not look at ideas presented and give honest feedback intead of just tearing people down? Is that all you got?

Well thought out ideas09 Sep 2022 14:32
Thank you for clearly demonstrating the revenue potential at PK. Add to that the over $700,000 in the treasury, and the executive's & minister's repetitive "bankruptcy is imminent" narrative seems exaggerated. It has been months since the meeting to vote on closing the columbarium. Why now the silence from the PK board ? Are they trying to bury the fact that there were serious breaches of conduct by them surrounding that meeting ? They frequently herald their integrity, and promised publicly to resign if the outcome of the vote did not go their way. We are all watching and waiting. So is God.

How is it that the "Friends" so focused on the Money? Why is the discussion not about the congregation's future? The entire so called 'plan' is about making a few dollars here and a few dollars there. These amounts are minuscule and take the entire focus away from the purpose of the existence of the church and the congregation. These numbers presented are over a year old and no longer reflect the current status. First, no concert can make money without a generous sponsor. And day care? We already know that the basement will not be allowed to have a daycare without a major renovation to meet current codes! That simply is not in the cards. Their proposals are not about the continuation of the serving of God, but only the serving of the business of making money. Yes, the Income Tax act may not preclude the church from engaging in business, but the the focus is wrong! Not once has the Lord's name appeared in this proposal! The "Friend's" proposal is all about saving a piece of real estate, not about providing a solid future for the congregation to worship, and this proposal definitely will not even save the real estate!!!
Yoga in the Sanctuary???!!!15 Sep 2022 08:35
Dear “Member”, you’re stating lies and ignorant opinions as fact… where do you get these from? Do you have any supporting evidence? I suggest you’re dreaming in technicolor! Only the devil would suggest the Pastor is unChristian! Do some Yoga and meditate… Breathe… 😂
