The guy who runs Extendacare makes 4M a year. Hell will reserve a special place for them. As for Thunder Bay, I married a metsa poiss and we have logged thousands of kms on Canada's rivers, yeah that's right baby, white water, just the two of us. Very sad that our Estonian community did not use this property for our own seniors and future seniors.
One day my own grandparents will need somewhere to go and it would be nice if the place were central so that they could interact more with their friends and relatives.
Would have liked our assets to be reinvested in the community but in a way the mostly benefits those who sacrificed the most to get us here.

Your thoughts at concern for our seniors is commendable.
A few years ago, Ehatare looked for a new property for a new facility for our seniors and discovered that anything within 80 km of Toronto was out of reach: either too expensive or precluded by zoning ordinances.

Even sadder to hear that there was no koostöö with those at Eesti Maja to create something together with Ehatare. I am sure that the Eesti Maja shareholders would have been interested. (Although maybe not the credit union?) What have we become? Someone told me that Vana Andrese kirik was also interested in doing something with Eesti Maja. I am not a religious person, but even this would have been a good solution for our community.
Options were explored, along the lines you suggest but, for a host of reasons, none proved to be practical.
The whole matter was made more complicated because this transpired during an ugly feud which pitted Ehatare's residents and their families against allies of a dismissed employee. It dragged on for about two years and, to it's everlasting shame, Eesti Elu sided with the mob!
If I had a say in the matter, I'd sell Eesti Maja and direct the proceeds to Ehatare's residents -- those who built Eesti Maja.

The dismissed employee's personnel file is, appropriately, private and; after she launched her lawsuit, the parties involved, appropriately, refrained from public comment and the eventual settlement included a confidentiality clause.
Initially, Ehatare's residents and their family members leaned in favour of the dismissed employee, although support waned after a suitable replacement was hired.
Friends of the employee unconnected to Ehatare remained loyal and militantly so. Initially, they organized a campaign to re-hire the employee. When that failed, they went for revenge with no ethical restraint. It was an ugly thing to witness and many of us initial supporters were disgusted.
For two years, Ehatare's management cowered in silent fear as a gang harassed and slandered. Eesti Elu chose sides the matter, to its everlasting shame.
Allan Meiusi was an energetic member of this gang. Now, he's willing to chat about it publicly. Long overdue, I'd say! Participation should include someone from Ehatare since they would have a complete record of the shameful chain of events.
It would be a waste of time, if Allan refused to be candid, however, and for that reason, we should ask, again, "Were you the source of the baseless complaints against Ehatare to the Ministry of Health?"

Why do you keep dragging the Ehatare into all this? Give it a rest, it is not relevant in discussions of Eesti Maja.
Allan has publicly offered to on camera interview, as long as his nameless accusers agree to do the questioning, either in English or Estonian. For some reason I think he will come out of this better than his cowardly anonymous accusers.

Suspicion fell upon Allan Meiusi and, when he was asked about it, he refused to either confirm or deny.
Now he's willing to sit down and discuss this matter, but; he's still unwilling to confirm or deny.
He's known for his long-winded incomprehensible rhetoric as slick as snot on a rooster's lip.
There's no point in trying to talk to him. He prides himself on his double-talk.

These were very disruptive as the Ministry promptly sent out inspectors and brought services to our seniors to an abrupt halt.
There's a law against such mischief and Meiusi should have been charged.

Don't get me wrong TONder Bay and its environs are gorgeous, but as I'm hopeful that you have noticed that what works from an architectures perspective in Thunder Bay doesn't necessarily work in Toronto and vice versa.....
