Estonian Reservation
(sung to the tune of Indian Reservation by Paul Revere and the Raiders)

They took the Toronto Esto diaspora
Put us on this reservation
Took away our ways of life
The Kohvik and the E-store
Took away our native tongue
And taught their English to our young.
And all the walls our fathers built by hand
Are nowadays made of glass.

Estonian people
Estonian tribe
So proud to live
So proud to die.

They took all the Estonian groups
Locked us on this glass reservation.
Though I wear a shirt and tie
I'm still part Kalevipoeg inside.

Estonian people
Estonian tribe
So proud to live
So proud to die.

But maybe someday when they learn,
Estonian spirit will return, will return
Will return, will return, will return.

The stakes must be very high with these moves and counter moves, including the gimmickry of a time capsule (?) and now Gary Kawaguchi is trundled up to the lectern to explain how the Japanese Community was mediated away from the architecture of Raymond Moriyama (whoa). Just wondering if someone told Ray and Gary how our Constitution for the Eesti Maja- is there one? I want to see it- was ignored and that all manner of hood-winkery has been going on (like all the "withdrawals" against the structure) The scuttlebutt is also about soliciting shares from confused souls at Ehatare is especially distasteful, I hope it is not true. And yes to that smart Alec: Mummi and Puppi did indeed tell me about those shares and their broader meaning of responsibility. The Japanese Community of Toronto had a bigger 'bank account' to realize their project. Another Vote please so we can put this to bed once and for all, and THIS time order US some Pizza!

The article fails to mention that a wise question was asked at the meeting regarding the JCC 's currrent financial status. The JCC, in fact, after all these years , and with many more people of Japanese heritage than there are Estonians, is still in mega - debt . Perhaps we should re-think allowing our community to go down this road. Should Sihtkapital really be cutting back on support for organizations and instead supporting the Madison Centre? ?

I'm turning Japanese
I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so.
