The number of foreigners enjoying the hospitality of Finland's prison system has grown 20 fold over the last 20 years, with inmates of Estonian origin currently making up the largest group by far.
As of March 16, a total of 3,342 convicts were serving time in Finland, including 427 foreigners. Of those, in approximate terms, 120 were from Estonia, 30 from Latvia, 30 from Romania, 20 from Iraq and 20 from Sweden, the Finnish newspaper Aamulehti reported.
