Trump became President with no experience in political office. Instead, he went to tougher school.
He succeeded in New York property development; dealing with mafia-infested labour unions, crooked politicians, and even closet-leftists like Barack O'Pläma. Putin will meet his match with Trump.
Putin is playing from a weak position: an economy in shambles. His priority is getting some relief on Western sanctions. Trump can magnify their impact massively by convincing Merkel to purchase Western natural gas, choking off Russia's only worthwhile export. With that threat, Trump may well get some relief for Russian aggression in the Ukraine.

There is a long enough history of Central and Eastern Europe being sold down the river by the Western countries for concern to be justified. The danger is real, not to be laughed off. The track record of the POTUS on CEE and the Russians is far from reassuring.
It seems to me that the "Don't worry" commentator is way behind on his (appears to be a him) reading on the nature of Cheka/NKVD/KGB/FSB/GRU. An ordinary upbringing in Queens or Jersey City or in the company of realtors in station wagons or a theatrical stint on reality TV doesn't automatically put you in the same league by far. Besides, Donald wasn't a gangbanger, he was a spoiled rich kid. Go to Google. Bang in and read "Trump’s Russian Laundromat", published by the New Republic.

The Russians have not changed nor will they. They are a menace to their neighbours.
This is Helsinki not Yalta with two very sick guys (Hopkins and Roosevelt) being led along by Alger Hiss.
John Bolton seems not pro Russian and Trump still seems to have most of his marbles, although sometimes you have to wonder.
Putin is playing a very weak hand at the moment but as energy prices keep rising Russia will get stronger and belligerent with German money.
Yes, Estonians have reason to be concerned given how many times they were sold out in the past.

"Trump bashers said never in history had a US president given away so much to a Russian leader."
... unlike fdr - trump is not a 'deep state' favourite

I am in sympathy with the Soviet form of government as that best suited
for the Russian people...
