Ingrid Tanner to Raivo18 Apr 2018 14:08
I emailed using the email you told me to use. You did not share a phone number with me. You spoke to Vaino Einola about me not submitting my signed form. I then emailed my consent again to you and to Vaino who indicated that I would finally be invited to a meeting. I think he wrote that because you must of said that.

Since you did confirm that you received my test email. I know it worked and thus all I can think of is you chose to ignore my acceptance.

As for sitting with the board tonight at the AGM - the optics do not work for me... unless you would gladly encourage the members to vote for me as a candidate. Would you?

I do have asset management experience.
Sadder18 Apr 2018 15:31
Geez, Raivo, you ask that Ingrid make a simple phone call, but somehow this doesn't apply to you?

Considering the importance of the situation, it would be incumbent on you to do a follow-up when you didn't receive a response.

That would have been the responsible and diligent thing to do!

...the APPROACH alone, the suhtumine, by 'leaderships' have destroyed something that is very hard if not impossible, to get back from a large part of the community members. Incredible, that leaderships of all 'orgs' were incapable of "reading the room", as the saying goes.
Instead of, from the beginning, being inclusive, welcoming, cordial, transparent and respectful, and open to the entire community wether shareholder or not, they opted for authoritarianism, disingenuousness, closed door dealings, aggressiveness, “we are your saviours” presentations, shutting-down questions and speakers and thereby creating a hostile milieu. This is a significant and costly mistake (more costly in terms of losing community Trust, Respect, Affection and Pride, than in any amount of dollars..) and certainly not how 'leaders' act, more like how dictators and authoritarians act….

A 'fast one' was pulled on Toronto Eestlased who were rushed into and duped into voting and giving a go ahead for 'due diligence’ that fateful night in April 2017, yet, in essence, it meant the Eesti Maja Property can be sold.
All time for discussion or hearing other points of view was muscled out. Strong arm tactics.)

Your disingenuous APPROACH itself, is what has severely damaged eestlaskond ......far and wide… Not sure it can be repaired because your damage is deep/personal. You have embarrassed Toronto eestlaskond and destroyed that feeling we once had, of 'one and all eestlased, old or young being a valued contributor and partaker' worth hearing from. Your muscle TACTICS have destroyed that feeling of Pride, Joy and Unity that our parents worked hard to instill in us as eestlased in Toronto.

Guido Laikvee should have been actively promoted by you to show his plans/ideas for the struggling EM, yet he was not allowed by you to show his ideas? No calls/no time for anyone else' ideas either (just yours…?) No architectural competition for the Madison Project (just Kongats’…. just YOUR choice?). No call for ideas for financials from Eesti Majandusklubi? Not even when things were initially going down……

Those who DO have OTHER ideas and solutions are not given the time of day and are even mocked.

Why this cruel, dismissive and sketchy modus operandi? Why did you not go the 'ühiselt koos', ühel meelel, avalikkult, sõbralikult, arutame asja, räägime läbi" route in the first place?

In other words, par for the course from this regime that Ingrid Tanner is not responded to/ reached out to, nor is Vaino Keelmann, nor the others. This has been an aggressive act, a Hostile takeover. Your approach destroyed something special, wonderful and solid amongst Toronto and surrounding area eestlased, doesn’t matter how you try to disguise it by promoting your Madison project as the best thing that could ever happen to Toronto eestlus for the next 50 years, no less.

You've missed your chance to be true leaders, ones who are loved, revered, honored, respected and trusted. Quite the opposite.

some criticism is warranted20 Apr 2018 11:20
Wow, üldiselt articulated the way I feel. In principle I am not in any way against exploring the best course of action. If it turns out that a move to Madison is the best then I have no problem with it. It has been the process from the beginning that has disturbed me. The boards of EM and ETCU should be more transparent. They, as well as their supporters, could be conciliatory and just plain nice to those that don't agree with their point of view. Convince people, let them express their point of view and don't bully. On the other side, the pro EM people, please be less critical of the past and focus on the issue at hand. Yes, things could have been done differently but let's figure this problem out and decide what is best for our future.

Are you stating facts, or emotions? Have you fact checked the info. you provided or are you relying on data that others have provided?!

Based on my experience, nothing new here. The party line is that we welcome all volunteers and input but in practice, it's a small clique that makes the decisions and they don't want to hear any new ideas. And after you've tried to help and gotten tired of banging your head against the wall, any comments or criticisms you may have are met with "you have no right to criticize the hard working volunteers if you're not willing to participate and help yourself".

Kus viga näed laita, seal tule ja aita ... unless of course your views differ even minutely from ours, in that case you may find that our email is on the fritz.

Üldiselt . . . my heart is breaking and we are EXHAUSTED from these machinations. Thank you for your powerful words. I have experienced a project that cost millions and now no one is using it (!). Architecture does bring people together, when they see they have 'a place' in it. Bangladesh enthused with Louis Kahn's Parliament buildings: "He gave us this democracy" (an incredible architecture). We Estonians ARE a very damaged people, sharing much suffering, no wonder Roman Toi eluded 'we have work to do'. A little soul-searching would help right now so push that restart button and apologize, we are ALL in the same leaky boat.

Real Reason19 Apr 2018 11:10
The real reason the EH Board /Raivo Remmel did not make a phone call and and try to get Ingrid Tanner on the board quickly (one might say at the speed of business) is because she does not share their views about the Madison Project and if she was present at the board meetings , she would hear all the information that the EHB does not want the shareholders to hear ,and she would be privy to the less than honest way they operate .

In this instance, Ingrid Tanner sounds reasonable. Alas, it wasn't always so.
A few years ago, she was an activist in the assault on Ehatare and posted comments, here, that were conspicuously hysterical and incoherent, leaving the impression that she should be handled like nuclear waste.
Who is the real Ingrid Tanner?
Sad day24 Apr 2018 08:07
This comment seems to be made by the person who constantly writes disparaging comments about people in relation to past events at Ehatare. You need to let go of this issue, this is not healthy for you.

I believe what happened at Ehatare resulted in Ehatare becoming a better institution today for its residents. The leadership had become dysfunctional and the spotlight on activities was needed to make improvements.

The spotlight today on the activities of the Estonian House Board will also help it think twice about any decisions that they make, since they know that not all community members agree with their course of action. The board has made questionable decisions (including what appear to be games played when it came to letting Väino and Ingrid onto the board -- this tarnished their reputation in my view). What else are they willing to do, that is questionable? How far are they willing to go, since such a "win" may embolden them in the future to take other liberties at the expense of due process?
to: Sad Day24 Apr 2018 10:30
Obviously, you didn't have a parent in Ehatare, during the long series of assaults against it. The details have never been disclosed. That was precluded by Rosie's lawsuit and confidentiality aggreement.
Ehatare didn't become a better institution. In spite of relentless efforts to the contrary, it survived, intact, without "improvements" (sic.)
The Estonian House Board will, indeed, think twice about their decisions, knowing that so-called "community members" (actually, non-shareholders on the sidelines with no skin in the game) can't be pacified. Be specific, Sad Day! What is "the due process" owed to irresponsible busybodies by the Board?
