My humble prediction is that Estonian newspapers will go too far with this one, and will find that bits will start falling off the ends of their subscribers faster than you can say Sherman the shoesine slinger. In other words; it's bringing doomsday so far forward, the precipice is literally stuck in your face.

The archives are where the real value of an internet publication lie. Imagine not accessing an article from any old issue of Postimees at the push of a button, instead having to to a yellowing clippings file folder. If you can find it. And should the clipping be there. Microfilm? Again a question of time and different technology. Kopli is right - access to the archives should be a for fee service.

The daily online issue, on the other hand, is generally fluff, eye candy and sensational revelations about Madonna's battles with cellulite with the real meaty filler from the print issue. So Sherman the sho'nuff shoeshine slinger may be on to something....
