Thank You Urmas & Raoul!
I think this is truly a worthy venture.
I'm sure I'll hear some whining and complaining from the Sr. generation, about Sihtkapital funds being used for such an endeavour, however I believe that more such events should be planned. We need to build bridges and heal rifts.
Wonderful idea!

Paistab et pealinnas ei austata vanurid. Mõnele tuleb meelde tuletada et meie kõik saame üks kord vanaks , kui surm meid enne ei niida.
There is a lot to be learned from previous generations. It is sad when someone thinks and believes that they know it all.

I have the utmost respect for our seniors. It is they who have built our society for us and given us a community.
I'm just stating, because I've heard this kind of complaint before, that there WILL be complaints at this use for our community funds.

Any event that can get 500 Toronto-Estonians together in 1 place worthy of community funds.

"A watershed date in the annals of Estonian popular music"? What planet are you from?

Do you really expect 500 to show up for a glorified amature basement jam session with a celebrity guitarist?

The National Estonian Foundation supports concerts and events for all ages. FYI we have not had complaints from the seniors about our use of funds in recent years. On the contrary, their donations have increased and thank you letters continue to pour in.
We are trying to be as fair as possible while appealing to the maximum amount of Estonians with tastes in all types of music, not just classical and choral. If you prefer alternate types of music, please offer constructive suggestions and appreciate that an evening featuring this type of music appeals to many others.

Sihtkapital does wonderful work and I think it's wonderful that there have been great new events in the past couple of years that have benefited!
The complaints I've heard may be classified as whining from a few who don't agree with spending money to bring artists from Eesti here and spending money on sports events.
I DO take it as whining and don't agree with their sentiments.
As another commentor mentioned, anything that brings so many people together, and especially events that support the inclusion of the younger generations is extremely worthwhile and welcome.
Thank you Lia and Sihtkapital for all your hard work!

I am not sure where the rumour that Tanel was coming started...no, he is not coming. Siht Kapital is a valued supporter in getting two supperb musicians to come here from Estonia. I have enjoyed reading the comments and will add a few of my own. When was the last event that could bring together this many people, in an excellent venue, to hear excellent musicians, be they young, or greying?

This is not a garage band scenario. A lot of prep time, work and coordination has gone into this event to ensure it is top shelf!

The collection of talent, including the careful selection of backup musicians hardly qualifies as a garage band.

I welcome the coments AFTER the event is over.

Help Sibul secure a spot at the Montreal Jazz Festival or offer some assistance to our young PROFESSIONAL musicians to play in Eesti. Do something useful.
This is but an exercise in nepotism and vanity.

ära ole nii happu ... on hea et muusikud eestist tutvustavad ennast kanada eesti noortele, ja Peeter on alati tipp ... keda läheks Sina siis parema meelega kuulama ?

As always, those that are actually DOING something get S--- upon!
Nepotism? Tell me! In our little, tiny community, WHO would NOT be accused of nepotism? We all know EVERYBODY!
Tonu, why don't YOU organize the next event? Who ya gonna call?
(I bet it won't be a stranger!)
