A summer camp for youths who live abroad but have Estonian roots has its third run this year in Pärnu County's Ojako farm estate.

Twenty-two children from 14 different countries are attending the camp, where the youths, from diverse backgrounds, can communicate in a shared language, reported ETV.

"Indeed, they have one binding element - Estonia. Their roots are in Estonia and for that reason it is not difficult, but exciting," said Ly Oja, who heads the camp.

Interest toward language and culture camps has grown over the years, according to the foundation. Information about the camp spreads through expat Estonian organizations, schools and internet. The camp is organized by the Integration and Migration Foundation Our People.

For those inspired to give Estonia a try, the Estonian government offers grants, for which foreign students who wish to return to Estonia to obtain a higher education can apply. Around 10 people apply each year, according to the Ministry of Education.
