U.S. Embassy Tallinn August 13, 2012
Twenty Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets from several Maryland and South Carolina universities participated in the 7km Energy Run in Narva on August 11, three of them finishing in the top 20! Dylan Fawaz of Clemson University, Kevin Northrop of the University of Maryland, and Jeremy Hild of Drake University, finished 13th, 19th and 20th respectively.
The cadets are in Estonia as part of the Cultural Understanding Language Proficiency, or CULP, program. The cadets will spend a total of three weeks in Estonia, much of it at Maarja Village, a school where the mentally challenged can learn to live independently. The cadets have been helping out at the school, assisting with some needed repairs and working with those living at the Village.
We hope that the cadets have found their entire visit to Estonia rewarding, and we congratulate them on their participation in the Energy Run.
