For the first time in Canada, Estonian group Trad.Attack! will bring its boisterous “turbo Nordic folk’ style sporting hard drumming and bagpipes bridging the gap between free jazz and metal. Superb musicianship and an overt respect for an understanding of the tradition combine with an off – the-scale to create music of startling originality.

The 2016 Cultura Festival will take place Friday July 8, 15, 22, & 29 from 6PM – 11PM at Mel Lastman Square, 5100 Yonge St. The festival features FREE entertainment by award-winning musical performers from around the world, international culinary experiences, cinematic programming and an exciting range of buskers that are fit for the whole family. Presented by Councillor John Filion, in partnership with North York Arts and Toronto Arts Foundation, the Festival also serves to benefit the local community, with funds from the proceeds of busker performances being raised to support various charities.
Other confirmed music performers include Lemonbucket Orkestra (Balkan/Klezmer), Kobo Town (Trinidadian Calypso/Reggae), Zuze (Persian Afro Beats) Baque de Bamba (Samba), Shak Shak (Calypso) and Scott Jackson (Hip Hop Beat Box). From Trinidadian Calypso, To Estonian Turbo Folk, to balkan-klezmer-gypsy-party-punk, Cultura Festival offers something for everyone.
