20 Jun 2008 Adu Raudkivi
The Finnish team won the 9th Annual Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) World Championships, which were held in Toronto for the first time, at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre on June 12 - 14, 2008. The event, sponsored by Kalev Estienne Rhythmic Gymnastics RG Club and Ritmika Rhythmic Gymnastics RG Club included over 400 international athletes judges and coaches featuring 28 teams and representing 14 countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Russia, Spain, Turkey, United States and Ukraine.

AGG is similar to RG (which is recognized on the Olympic level) except it is done in a larger group, without equipment and judged on artistic ability rather than technical merit.

AGG, which has been active for over 100 years, has only been recognized as an international sport since 1996. Annely Riga of Ritmika RG and Evelyn Koop of Kalev RG are the founding members of the International Federation of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (IFAGG) which held their first World Championships in Finland in 2000.
