Today is the traditional feast day of the Epiphany of the Lord!

At Epiphany, the Church looks forward to the majestic coming of Christ when His manifestation as God will be complete. The word “epiphany” comes from the Greek word, “epiphainen,” which means “to shine,” “to manifest,” or “to make known.” This feast of the Epiphany celebrates all the ways that Christ has made Himself known to the world, through three main events of Christ’s life when His divinity shines through His humanity: the adoration of the Magi, the baptism of Christ in the Jordan, and the first miracle at the wedding feast of Cana.

May the splendor of your majesty, O Lord,
we pray, shed its light upon our hearts,
that we may pass through
the shadows of this world
and reach the brightness of our eternal home.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
