ARCHBISHOP UDO PETERSOO It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father, Archbishop Udo Petersoo, of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church, in the early hours of Sunday, May 14, 2006, at the age of 72. Loving husband of Reet, devoted father of Alar and his wife Shiva, Tonu and his wife Karinna, daughter Taimi, grandfather to newborn Parsa Eerik, caring son-in-law to Lydia Krabi. After 17 years as an English high school teacher and many years of dedication to the Estonian community and society, he followed in the footsteps of his father, Elmar, and became a minister. Ordained in 1975, Udo became the pastor of the Estonian Church in Sault Ste. Marie. In 1982 he became the pastor of St. Andrew's Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Toronto. In 1987 he was elected Dean and Assessor and in 1990 Archbishop of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends in Canada, Estonia, USA, Sweden, England, Germany and Australia. His energy and passion for life were an inspiration to all who knew him. A complete funeral service will be held at ST. ANDREW'S ESTONIAN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 383 Jarvis St (at Carlton) on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. Cremation.
