.Dear TSR Friends,

We would like to let you know about a documentary that, although in a very different region of the world than Estonia, shares a similar story of empowerment with The Singing Revolution .

Pray the Devil Back to Hell chronicles the remarkable story of courageous Liberian women who came together to end a bloody civil war and bring peace to their shattered country.

Thousands of women — ordinary mothers, grandmothers, aunts and daughters, both Christian and Muslim — came together to pray for peace and then staged a silent protest outside of the Presidential Palace. Armed only with white T-shirts and the courage of their convictions, they demanded a resolution to the country’s civil war. Their actions were a critical element in bringing about an agreement during the stalled peace talks.

A story of sacrifice, unity and transcendence, Pray the Devil Back to Hell honours the strength and perseverance of the women of Liberia. Inspiring, uplifting, and most of all motivating it is a compelling testimony of how grassroots activism can alter the history of nations.

The Singing Revolution and Pray the Devil Back to Hell are both examples of how change can be created through nonviolence and perseverance. We are partnering with the filmmakers to help spread the word about both of these powerful stories.

To learn more about this film please go to: www.praythedevilbacktohell.com... And be sure to watch Pray the Devil Back to Hell on your local PBS station on October 18th. The film will have its U.S. broadcast premiere as the second episode of a groundbreaking series called Women, War & Peace, (www.womenwarandpeace.org) which is created by Pray the Devil Back to Hell filmmakers Abigail E. Disney and Gini Reticker, along with a third co-creator, Pamela Hogan.

With narrators Matt Damon, Geena Davis, Tilda Swinton and Alfre Woodard, Women, War & Peace will explore women’s strategic role in conflict and peacebuilding. Tune in Tuesday nights October 11, 18, 25, November 1 and 8 on PBS to watch all five parts. To check your local listings please visit www.pbs.org/tv_schedules/.
