The skepticism of Baltic politicians and diplomats regarding the statements originating from inside the walls of the Kremlin has been formed by years of experience. Since breaking free of the Soviet/Russian grasp, most of their assessments passed on to Western governments seem to have fallen on deaf ears.

Sadly, the invasion and annexation of Crimea has forced Western powers to understand that Moscow’s deeds and sayings do not in the least have to be aligned. In this respect, the current disinformation campaign has not advanced any farther from the Lenin-Stalin model. Since the inception of the internet the media used is of course drastically different and provides the creative ‘disinformationist’ with a powerful tool.
