Those who have been lucky enough to visit or live in Quebec City have undoubtedly observed a number of similarities between it and Tallinn. Both are historic cities, each with a charming walled old town. To show the similarities between the two cities, a unique photo exhibition was opened on February 22nd at 12 noon local time in Quebec and 7 p.m. local time in Tallinn. This allowed for a simultaneous opening in both cities through the magic of Skype. The photos in the exhibition show the distinctive aspects of both cities, as well as their striking similarities.

In Quebec City this fascinating exhibition was organized on the initiative and by the hard work of the Honorary Estonian Counsel in Quebec City, Mr. François-Xavier Simard. A notable contribution was also made by Quebec City Estonian, Valdur Pille, and his wife Nelly who contributed folk costumes and handicrafts from their home to the exhibition. Along with Mr. Simard, the Estonian Ambassador to Canada, Marina Kaljurand was present to preside over the official opening of the exhibition. Riho Kruuv, the Estonian Chargé d’affaires in Ottawa was also present.

The exhibition will be open for one month at the Observatoire de la Capitale on the 31st floor of the Marie-Guyart Building at 1037 rue De La Chevrotiére in downtown Quebec City. In addition to the photo exhibition, the site offers a magnificent bird’s eye view of Quebec City.
