The discussion forum of the President’s Academic Advisory Board will focus this year on “Estonia 100” or Estonia in a new decade and will take place in Pärnu on Friday 15th October in co-operation with the Estonian Development Fund and the City of Pärnu.
The participants will attempt to define questions and find answers to Estonia’s possibilities, ambitions, and strengths within the framework of the discussion forum, the fourth to take place. What characterises the subjects of social and political discussion at the end of the decade, as the Republic of Estonia becomes one hundred years old?
The opinion leaders invited to the event represent state agencies, businesses, and citizens’ associations, and they will discuss solutions to inherent questions concerning Estonia’s future, both collectively and individually.
The discussion forum of the President of the Republic is planned to take place as the grand finale of the Pärnu Management Conference, and it will be opened on Friday at 14:00 by the President, followed by a presentation from the former Prime Minister, Mr. Mart Laar, and a discussion concerning the future perspectives of Estonia with representatives of other political parties. The Manager of the Development Fund, Mr. Ott Pärna, and businessman Mr. Priit Põldoja will give a presentation on “Estonia’s Future Vision for 2018” during the second half of the event, followed by a discussion forum focusing on subjects related to the vision for the future.
The discussion forum was initiated by the President of the Republic, Mr. Toomas Hendrik Ilves, in October 2007 in Pärnu.
