Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today welcomed Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to Canada. The Royal Couple arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia to begin a four-day Royal Tour of Canada from May 18 to 21, 2014.

During the tour, Their Royal Highnesses will join Canadians in marking milestones in the nation’s history in the lead up to the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017. Of special note are events that will mark the centenary of the beginning of the First World War and the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference in Prince Edward Island that paved the way to Confederation. The Royal Couple will also participate in activities that highlight the positive contributions young Canadians are making towards strengthening Canada and building the future of our country. The theme of the visit is “Canadian Achievement: Commemorating Our Past, Celebrating Our Future.”

Their Royal Highnesses will honour Canada’s rich history, participate in activities that define national heritage and patriotism, and join citizens in looking towards a rich and exciting future.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will meet individuals and organizations that are making a difference in their community and Canada during their visit to the following three provinces and six cities/regions:
Halifax and Pictou County in Nova Scotia (May 18 and 19)
Charlottetown, Bonshaw, and Cornwall in Prince Edward Island (May 19 and 20)
Winnipeg in Manitoba (May 20 and 21)
This is the 17th Tour of Canada for The Prince of Wales and the third for The Duchess of Cornwall. The last official Royal Tour of Canada was May 20 to 23, 2012, when The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall marked the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen with Canadians.
