EPP decides not to back Duff report.Constant Brand, European Voice - 11.03.2012
European Parliament political group leaders have again chosen to delay a vote on a contentious plan to create a single EU-wide constituency for 25 MEPs.
Parliament officials said today that the groups decided on Thursday (8 March) to put off a debate and vote on the proposal which was planned for next week's plenary session in Strasbourg. A debate was scheduled for Wednesday (14 March) and a vote was planned for the next day.
The decision came after the Parliament's largest group, the centre-right European People's Party (EPP), decided on Wednesday (7 March) not to back the plans contained in a report drafted by Andrew Duff, a UK Liberal MEP.
