In February of 2012, the Master Singers present Shakespeare of Today. This marvelous and diverse concert features new music by Estonian composer Rene Eespere and the greatest choral masterpiece by two wonderful composers, Jaakko Mantyjarvi's Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae and Benjamin Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia. The ensemble will also sing a number of jazz-influenced settings of texts by William Shakespeare.
The Washington Post has declared, "The Master Singers of Virginia is among the state's finest choral ensembles." Currently in its 16th season, the 28-member a cappella choir is dedicated to bringing the highest quality choral music to the people of Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. Concentrating primarily on 20th- and 21st-century choral music, the Master Singers ensemble uses concerts to enrich, educate, and entertain its audiences.
