Representing your country as an Olympic athlete is a rare and hard-earned honour. It is even more of a rarity to reach an elite level as a skier growing up, not in some northern, snow laden town in the mountains, but rather in the urban, snow-deprived metropolis of Toronto. Steve Podborski is one such skier. Lenny Valjas will be another Torontonian with the distinction of competing as a skier at an Olympic Winter Games.

Lenny, is the youngest member of Canada's National Cross Country Ski Team. He has had success on the World Cup circuit, with 5 podiums so far. With those stellar results on the World Stage, he has pre-qualified to compete at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

As excitement starts to build around the Olympics, we have planned a fundraiser for Lenny to help him pursue excellence for his country.
The event is called "The Snowball" because it takes a lot of snowflakes to make a snowball. The event will take place on Sat. Nov. 2, 2013 in Toronto. There will be a 4 course dinner, Jack Sasseville (former National Team coach and TV commentator) as the keynote speaker, a presentation from Lenny, live and silent auctions, prizes and a live band.

Skiing is Lenny's full time job, he trains and competes 11 months of the year. Beyond financial support, Lenny would benefit from knowing that people care and support his efforts.

Please consider joining "Team Lenny" by attending the Snow Ball or, if you cannot attend, by kindly making a donation to help Lenny stride to Sochi. Your support is greatly appreciated. The net proceeds from this event will be used exclusively to assist Lenny with the costs of coaching and training leading up to the 2014 Olympics and beyond!
There will be regular updates on Team Lenny's Facebook page www.facebook.com/teamlennyvalj...

Cheques can be may out to "Lenny Valjas In Trust" and mailed to Team Valjas, #306-245 Davisville Ave., Toronto, ON M4S 3H4
Payment can also be made through PayPal on Team Lenny's Facebook page.

Thanks for keeping the snowball rolling!

P.S. Dress code is relaxed, like Lenny: Après-ski attire to chalet chic.
