Dangerous Summer

Set in Riga, the film tells a tragic love story before and during the Soviet invasion of Latvia in 1940 and the early stages of World War II. Love ignites between a Prussian girl and a Latvian radio journalist. Unfortunately the couple has to face the fierce politics of WWII. It is a dangerous game which leaves a deep impact on their nations, their leaders and their people. A game in which there can be no winners.

Marta Mannenbach (MA in Film and Television, the University of Nottingham, UK) is a media and marketing specialist with a sweet spot for film. In cooperation with film studio DEVINI in Latvia, she produced the documentary "Ruch and Norie" and assisted with production and distribution of other international titles produced by the studio. Marta also coordinates the San Francisco chapter of the global Future Shorts short film festival and film nights for the Northern California Latvian society.

Following this screening, the Baltic Film Series will feature: "In the Crosswind" (2014) and "Land of Songs" (2015). Please see our events page for a full listing of films, event times and locations, and film synopses.
