Jõekääru summer camp 2007
16 Feb 2007 EWR Online
Our Annual Meeting is on Tuesday, February 27th, in the large hall in the Toronto Estonian House. Anyone who is a JSS member is welcome to join us. Come out and be a part of our future!

Summer camp is starting on Sunday, July 1st, and finishing on Saturday, August 11th. All the information is posted on our web site, www.joekaaru.ca and all the forms are available there too. If anyone is looking for employment at the camp, now would be a good time to get your employment form sent in. Everything can be found on our web site.

Immersion weeks are week 1 (July 1 - 8), 2 (July 8 - 15) and 6 (August 5 - 11), which means the Estonian speaking weeks are weeks 3 (July 15 - 22), 4 (July 22 29) and 5 (July 29 - August 5).
Sports week is week 2, and family day is on July 29th. We are planning to have special themes every week too. A good time to talk about the program further would be on Saturday, March 3rd.
There is a lot of work involved in running the children's camp and looking after the facilities, especially with all the up-grades that are needed — so our Board of Directors, with Linda Liik's help, has decided to form 3 subcommittees:

1) Running the children's camp (includes staffing, registration, program, review government regulations on running camp, maintain minor fixed assets, etc.).

2) Building and capital upgrades to the facilities (includes review of capital or large assets, assessment of needs, set priorities and develops up-grade plan, cost estimates, etc.).

3) Fundraising and communication with the public (helps organize and suggest fundraising events and programs in connection with what funding is needed to run the camp and up-grade facilities, helps keep the public informed of what's going on, where help is needed, looks after the donations, looks at rental of facilities, etc.).

We are looking for volunteers to help out with these committees. If you can volunteer a little or more of your time and talents, it is very much needed. Jõekääru is there for all of us and for our future generations. This is a legacy we can leave to our children.
In connection with this, we are looking for more JSS members.
The membership costs only $10 per year, and it allows you to help out, voice your ideas and concerns, and be a part of our future.

Our Annual Meeting is on Tuesday, February 27th, in the large hall in the Toronto Estonian House. Anyone who is a JSS member is welcome to join us. Come out and be a part of our future!

Get involved! Take some time to give back to our community! The rewards will be great!
