The President, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, met today (December 10) with the Minister of Defence, Urmas Reinsalu, and the Commander of the Defence Forces, General Brigadier Riho Terras, who introduced him to the new 10 year national defence development plan.
The Head of State acknowledged the officials of the Ministry of Defence and officers of the General Staff of the Defence Forces for establishing ambitious – yet realistic – specific, justified and affordable objectives for Estonia's national defence.
"The conclusions and background information submitted by the Minister of Defence and Commander of the Defence Forces were convincing. Estonia has got itself a new and realistic national defence development plan," told President Ilves.
He announced that he will summon the National Defence Committee this week to introduce them to the new 10 year national defence plan.
