Classical guitarist Roman Smirnov will make his Canadian solo performance debut at the Lebovic Centre for Arts and Entertainment - Nineteen on the Park, Jan. 27.
“Every concert is like magic between souls. I will show my soul,” Mr. Smirnov said.
The Oak Ridges resident grew up in Estonia and has studied music at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem, the Kassel Music Academy in Germany and has participated in festivals in his home country as well as in Russia.
“I thought for his first concert in Canada I thought (the Lebovic Centre for Arts and Entertainment - Nineteen on the Park) would be the perfect venue,” said Daniel Dambrosio, a student of Mr. Smirnov who helped organize the show.
“Listening to him play is almost like listening to two instruments at the same time,” the Stouffville resident said.
Mr. Smirnov grew up in a musical household and started playing classical guitar at an early age.
He picked up the electric guitar as a teenager and played in bands before returning to classical music.
“This is a richer world from a cultural point of view, it speaks to me,” Mr. Smirnov said.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and available at http://nineteenonthepark.com/r...
